Welcome to Chameleon Mom..
showing all the wondrous colours of Motherhood...

Me, Me, Me

I am a Mother of three.

Marilyn-my very creative, independent, nocturnal, teenage daughter who is 15 Maggie-my spirited, verbose, princess who is 3,
Noah-my easygoing, social, happy ten month old with an infectious laugh

I am a nocturnal creature. However, I have had to adapt because raising children that way may be construed as poor parenting. Unfortunately, my teenage daughter, Marilyn, shares this genetic anomaly. I miss her.

I usually write after the kids are in bed. If I tried to write during the daytime, the children would find a reason to need me.

I do not get much sleep.

If I could have a super power, I want the ability to freeze and manipulate time by up to one day. The possibilities are limitless. If I had a great day, I could rewind and enjoy it again. If I had a bad day, I could rewind and fix it. I could freeze time and accomplish lots and lots of things. Ok, who am I kidding if I could freeze time I would sneak in some extra sleep!

I loathe injustice. The world isn’t fair is a comeback that chills me to the bone.

I am definitely a Libra

I often fantasize about what I would do if I won the lottery. Unfortunately, my brain always gets stuck on the logistics of splitting up the money in a fair and equitable manner. Exactly who would I share my good fortune with, and how much would I give to each person. What city would I decide to live in, and how would I convince everyone I know to move there too. It always seems so daunting I never buy a ticket.

I love to take pictures. My children are traumatized by flashing lights daily.

I am obsessed with children’s toys. I often want toys my children are not even interested in.

I adore play-doh.

I miss the old strawberry shortcake dolls.

I have never learned how to whistle.

I hate shoes-my feet do not seem to fit properly in any shoe until it is worn out and needs to be replaced. I literally wear them until they fall off.  I have actually had to go in to a store barefoot to purchase new shoes because my shoes fell apart in the parking lot.

I spend an inordinate amount of time wondering if I would survive if there was a zombie breakout.

For some inexplicable reason my wrists do not rotate properly. I am therefore incapable of taking change from a drive thru without leaning to the left and twisting my entire torso like some cheesy magician about to present the coin I found in your ear. Ta-da!

As if that’s not memorable enough…

I am addicted to Tim Hortons Iced Cappuccino.  I like mine super icy, so I ask for it made with just a teeny tiny little bit of milk. This order seems to be a very difficult task because I am constantly presented with frothy milky Iced Caps. I then re-state my order and ask them to redo it. I have had them redo the order from scratch with cream, with extra milk, with cream and milk, pour out half and add more milk etc…etc... and further idiocy. I am sad to say that I have gotten so frustrated I have asked for my money back on more than one occasion, and driven to another Tim Hortons to try my luck there.

Last week I drove thru with my usual order and when the girl was about to hand it to me she looked down at the iced cap in her hand, didn’t utter a word, simply turned around and went to make me another one. Woohoo! They can be taught.

My favourite pastime is to curl up with a good book and lose myself in its pages.
